I am currently Senior Lecturer for BA (Hons) Fashion Communication at the University of the West of England, Bristol where I continue to engage in professional development and research to inform my teaching practice. Alongside my work as an academic I undertake freelance projects and consultation for clients within the creative industries, education and retail sectors.
My Teaching Philosophy / Pedagogical Approach
As an artist and educator my teaching philosophy is committed to the value of the arts within local and global communities as a responsible force for good.
As an artist and educator my teaching philosophy is committed to the value of the arts within local and global communities as a responsible force for good.
For me the arts is a collaborative experience for both makers and participants/consumers. I aim to cultivate an inclusive teaching environment that reflects the collaborative nature of the creative industries, where students feel empowered to explore ideas, challenge beliefs, take risks, and find their unique voice without judgement or bias.
My approach to designing my teaching and learning materials is student-centred, creating and nurturing an equitable space for practice-based knowledge and skills exchange, underpinned by continuous critical thinking and self-reflection.
